This beautifully colored and finely engraved chart of the Sandwich Islands was published by Rigobert Bonne in Paris in 1785. This chart, which is faithful to Cook's original charting, shows the inset of Kealakekua Bay where the great navigator met his untimely death on February 14, 1779.

Rigobert Bonne (1727-1795) was the official French Engineer and Marine Cartographer of the period. A large compass rose embellishes this map.
