This superb reproduction of the original survey map entitled Hawaii was published by Harper's Weekly circa 1899. It was based on a survey performed by S.M. Kanakanui with annotations by Caspar Whitney.

Of noteworthy interest are the textual details regarding the geographical conditions of the land, including agricultural information about sugar cane and coffee planting. Also of note are the references to the pioneer plantations, rainfall, grazing animals, and government lands.
