Admiral Johan Von Krusenstern, who visited the Hawaiian Islands in
1804, published this singular map with Russian text in 1827. It is believed that a copy of this map accompanied Charles Wilkes (of the U.S.
Exploring Expedition) on his visit to Hawaii and was influential in Wilkes' charting of the islands.
This splendid original map is also noteworthy because of the inset depicting
Kotzebue's first charting of Honolulu harbor.
