This original copperplate engraving of Baja California and New Mexico was published in 1705 by Nicholas de Fer.
This is the first map to document the discoveries of Father Eusebio Kino, a Jesuit missionary/explorer, who spent several years trekking through the area. Father Kino was the first European to cross from mainland Mexico to the peninsula of California. This reproduction map also contains a key with 314 New Mexican places listed.
