Henricus Hondius, the 17th century master cartographer, originally created this magnificent mapping of Virginia and Florida in full, rich color in 1641.

Particularly interesting in this splendid reproduction is the topographical information, especially the early spelling of the Appalachian Mountain Range. Hondius also included images of early-civilized settlements, such as natives in a large dugout canoe and sailing ships.
