This superb reproduction of the original copperplate engraving was first published in ATLAS DU VOYAGE DE LA PEROUSE IN PARIS, 1779. The Comte de la Perouse, explorer, navigator and hydrographer, was sent by Louis XVI on an expedition to rival that of the English Capt. James Cook.
