"Map of the State of Wisconsin Shewing the Location of the Ancient Works" Published by Lapham, 1853 This superb reproduction map entitled "Map of the State of Wisconsin Shewing the Location of the Ancient Works", was originally published by I.A. Lapham in 1853. Of noteworthy interest is that prior to attaining statehood, Wisconsin land was obtained by treaties with the Indians, and the territory of Wisconsin was actually created on July 3, 1836. Completing this image with topographical and geological accuracy are the delineations of the many lakes in the state of Wisconsin with Green Bay, as well as the ancient works referring to the native American tribal locations.
