"The Ichnography of Charles-Town at High Water" Published by Roberts & Toms, 1884 This wonderful reproduction of the fine recreation of the original map published in 1739 entitled "The Ichnography of Charles-Town at High Water" was presented to the city council of Charlestown by Prof. J.E. Hildegard, and the superintendent of the U.S. Coast and Geodetic Survey, Capt. Boutelle, in August of 1884. Of noteworthy interest are the detailed delineation's of the churches, meeting houses, court houses, publishing houses and streets and alleys of the city of Charlestown as they existed in the middle of the eighteenth century. The finely detailed and ornate title cartouches add to this map's aesthetic and historical appeal.
