This hand coloured, engraved map of "A New Map of Louisiana" was published 1833 by Henry Schenck Tanner [1786-1858], of Philadelphia in TANNER'S UNIVERSAL ATLAS.

This map shows the State of Louisiana as it was in the early 19th Century, including canals roads and distances from place to place along the stage and steamboat routes. The map is completed with an inset of New Orleans including its principle points of interest.
