Honolua Bay, a famous surfing, scuba diving and snorkeling spot, is a jewel set on Maui's rugged northwest shore, and as with most of the Hawaiian islands, water conditions vary dramatically in this area depending on ocean currents, rainfall, and the season. While in the summer months the bay occasionally has enormous waves that can be viewed from the pineapple fields high above, most of the year it's a calm cove popular with tourists and locals alike.

Part of the Mokuleia Marine Life Conservation District, there's only a small sand beach here, but the crystal-clear shallow water and massive, vibrantly colored coral reef are spectacular sights and well worth the trip, even if you never get wet!
