On the north shore of Maui, just past Paia, you'll find Hookipa. Rumor has it that more windsurfing footage is shot at Hookipa Beach than at any other place in the world, because the conditions there are ideal, and enthusiasts flock to it in droves. On a prime day, there may be well over 100 windsurfers racing across the water, some of the best reaching speeds approaching 50mph.

Even if you're not a windsurfer, it's still incredible to watch, and the bluffs above are often lined with less-adventuresome spectators. Each year, Hookipa is also home to a number of international windsurfing competitions, and its reputation continues to spread throughout the world.
