Set on the lush green slopes of Haleakala, Maui's dormant volcano, is the quaint town of Ulupalakua. This area is home to the Tedeschi Vineyards, Hawaii's only winery, as well as the 20,000 acre Ulupalakua Ranch, and offers a different experience from the tropical beaches you may be used to. Cool and lofty, it seems like a bit of heaven as clouds swirl atop pastoral hills.

Upcountry Maui boasts breathtaking views of the vast central valley, the West Maui Mountains, Lanai, Kaho'olawe, Molokini, Molokai, and the glittering blue Pacific, and is just one more reason why Maui no ka oi (Maui is the best!) This view takes it all in, while providing bright clusters of wild pink angel's trumpet in the foreground and some magnificent periwinkle jacaranda trees along the road.
