After having spent the summer months in the Arctic waters of the north, the humpback whales migrate south and return to Maui every winter to breed. They can be spotted between late November and early May, with February and March being the best months for whale watching. If you've been fortunate enough to be on Maui during whale season, you know what a thrill it is to see them! Thanks to the camera skills of Katie Jo Sheppard, this gentle giant was captured in full breach, which is his most spectacular and popular crowd-pleasing move.
