"Progress Map of the Geographical Surveys West of the 100th Meridian"

Published by U. S. Government, Belknap, 1875

This superb reproduction of a beautifully-colored lithograph, "Progress Map of the Geographical Surveys West of the 100th Meridian", was originally printed for the U.S. Government by William W. Belknap. It accompanied the report of 1st Lieut. George M. Wheeler of the Corps of Engineers.

The map shows survey work in progress in 95 indexed areas with delineated sites for astronomical stations completed and proposed. Of noteable interest is Indian Territory, now Oklahoma, and Dakota, now North and South Dakota.
