"Quiuirae Regnu Cum Alijs Versus Borea"

Published by De Jode, 1593

This rare map appeared in the second edition of the Spectrum Orbis Terrarum, published by Cornelius de Jode. Only two editions of this atlas were ever published, thus accounting for the rarity of de Jode's maps.

Geographically, de Jode drew on the inspiration of Mercator and Ortelius, but he inserted geographical elements not found in either. In particular the myth of a Northwest Passage was made to appear quite real.
