"Seattle Washington"

Published by Cram, 1899

This superb reproduction of an original map entitled, "Seattle", was first published by George F. Cram of Chicago circa 1899, a pivotal time in the history of the United States.

The map shows the city boundaries, street names, cable and rail systems, and various municipal sites such as parks, universities and cemeteries as they existed at the turn of the century.

The delicate color was originally produced by the use of separate, wax engraved plates. At the time of this publication, Seattle was the gateway to the Alaskan Gold Rush.
