Product description:

One of the most popular Maui tourist attractions is the Haleakala National Park, on the southwestern part of the island, and within it, some of the true gems of Maui can be found. The sprawling park is home to streams, majestic waterfalls and an amazing display of Hawaiian flora.

About forty minutes past Hana, you come upon an area known as the Seven Sacred Pools, or Oheo Gulch. The name Seven Sacred Pools is a misnomer - there are actually dozens of pools in the gulch, each one fed by a series of waterfalls and draining into the sea below. Nearby is a quaint open bridge, and the scene is one of the most frequently-photographed locales on the island.

Oheo Gulch is a popular spot for swimming, but depending upon the recent weather conditions, it can be dangerous. Very strong flash floods have occurred in the area and people have been swept into the ocean and drowned.

In this view, we're transported to the scene through the lens of photographer Dave Shively.
