Product description:

The kiawe is a spreading bush or moderately-sized mesquite tree, bearing spines, spikes of greenish-yellow flowers, and long pods filled with small brown seeds. Having a long taproot, it can survive in areas where other plants do not grow, such as sandy, dry, or salty soils.

The first kiawe was planted in Hawaii in 1828; today it is a ubiquitous shade tree and invasive weed on the Hawaiian Islands, but it provides aromatic firewood for heating and cooking.

In this view, the lens of artistic photographer Petra Nohealani captures one of these striking trees growing on the beach in the west Maui town of Honokawai.

Lahaina Printsellers custom-prints this image on waterproof canvas in our Lahaina studio using only the finest archival inks, which are tested and guaranteed not to fade or shift under normal circumstances for over 100 years.
