Maui, Hawaiian Islands

Published by United States Government, 1885

Printed by Lahaina Printsellers, Ltd., 2016

This beautifully-reproduced map of Maui was originally surveyed by W. D. Alexander, Surveyor General to Queen Liliuokalani in 1885, prior to her overthrow. Providing valuable ownership information, this map is color-coded and illustrates all the government lands in green and the former Crown lands in yellow.

The names of companies and individuals holding title to larger portions of land are also noted on the map.

It states that the primary triangulation was by W.D. Alexander and S.E. Bishop, while the boundaries and topography were by W.D. Alexander, C.J. Lyons, M.D. Monsarrat, F.S. Dodge, S.E. Bishop, E.D. Baldwin and W.R. Lawrence. Credit for the finished map is given to F.S. Dodge.

We custom-print this facsimile map on waterproof canvas in our Lahaina studio using the finest archival inks, which are tested and guaranteed not to fade or shift under normal circumstances for over 100 years. Modern printing techniques allow us to improve and enhance the historical subject matter, even as we're careful to preserve and maintain its historical and artistic integrity.
