"Ao Pua'a" Published by William Horak, 2005 Printed by Lahaina Printsellers, Ltd., 2016 While living in Hawaii from 1985 to 1992, Bill Horak worked as a field engineer and performed geological reconnaissance throughout the islands. Spending time in remote locations provided him the opportunity to explore, and he fell in love with Hawaii's culture, history, and geographic environment. Returning to the Pacific Northwest, Horak realized that his genuine longing for the islands continued, and he felt the need to express it. His interest in archival cartography, Hawaiian history and language, and the nostalgic artwork of the islands led him to the development of his unique Hawaiian maps. His skilled work blends these various elements together, sharing his personal perspective with us. Horak now returns to Hawaii every year, spending time on Oahu's North Shore. Lahaina Printsellers custom-prints this image in our Lahaina, Maui studio using the finest archival inks, which are tested and guaranteed not to fade or shift under normal circumstances for over 100 years.
