"Maui No Ka Oi" Published by Steve Strickland, 2000 Printed by Lahaina Printsellers, Ltd., 2016 This map was created by Maui artist Steve Strickland using a very sharp pencil, which he then colored with a wash of liquid acrylic inks. The map took over 250 hours to complete, and he was careful to faithfully represent the islands as accurately as possible. It's entitled "Maui No Ka Oi", which means "Maui is the best." In this charmingly-rendered creation, Strickland brings together important elements of Maui in order to show the significance and beauty of the island. He includes a whaling ship, a breaching humpback whale, Lahaina harbor and lush tropical flowers. Lahaina Printsellers custom-prints this image on waterproof canvas in our Lahaina studio using only the finest archival inks, which are tested and guaranteed not to fade or shift under normal circumstances for over 100 years.
