"A Map of Honolulu and the Sandwich Islands, Which We Now Call the Hawaiian Islands"
Published by Henry M. Snyder, 1927
Printed by Lahaina Printsellers, Ltd., 2016
This extremely colorful map was designed by A.S. MacLeod and published by Henry Snyder in New York. Loaded with detail and whimsical in nature, it depicts points of interest in the capital city of Honolulu.
Included are many cartouches, one of which explains, "In this map you will find depicted in pictorial fashion the history, land-marks & customs of these colorful isles."
Another contains a quote by Jack London, describing Hawaii, "It is the land of the morning calm, the afternoon shower and the evening tranquility."
A highly-decorative border includes historical events as well as common island sights, including Hawaiian fish, a native spear fisherman, a hula dancer, surf riding at Waikiki and natives making poi.
An inset shows the entire Hawaiian Island chain.
