"Map of the United States and Territories Together with Canada & c."

Published by Samuel Augustus Mitchell, 1860

Printed by Lahaina Printsellers, Ltd., 2016

This wonderfully-detailed reproduction of "Map of the United States and Territories Together with Canada & c." was published in Philadelphia by S. Augustus Mitchell in 1860 for his New General Atlas.

It features early boundaries for the territories of Dacotah (sic), Idaho, Utah and Arizona. Wyoming does not appear, as it was still incorporated into Idaho Territory, while Arizona still includes the tip of Nevada.

An extensive railroad network is shown throughout the east, with the proposed Pacific Railroads, mail routes, emigrant roads and the Pony Express route shown in the west.

The insets feature Hampton Roads and Norfolk Harbor in Virginia and Pensacola Bay in Florida.

A decorative rose and flower vine border surrounds the map.

We custom-print this facsimile map on waterproof canvas in our Lahaina studio using the finest archival inks, which are tested and guaranteed not to fade or shift under normal circumstances for over 100 years. Modern printing techniques allow us to improve and enhance the historical subject matter, even as we're careful to preserve and maintain its historical and artistic integrity.
