"Persia"

Published by Aaron Arrowsmith, 1830

Printed by Lahaina Printsellers, Ltd., 2016

This reproduction of the hand-colored engraving of "Persia" was originally published in London in 1830 by Aaron Arrowsmith for his An Atlas of Ancient Geography, for the use of King's College School.

Arrowsmith served as Hydrographer to the King and was member of the Royal Geographical Society. The map was expertly engraved by Sidney Hall, a craftsman known for his superior cartographic detailing.

Today, the country of Persia is known as Iran. This map details the area before the discovery of oil and the political changes of the last hundred years.

We custom-print this facsimile map on waterproof canvas in our Lahaina studio using the finest archival inks, which are tested and guaranteed not to fade or shift under normal circumstances for over 100 years. Modern printing techniques allow us to improve and enhance the historical subject matter, even as we're careful to preserve and maintain its historical and artistic integrity.
