This reproduction of the copperplate engraving of "De Gelegentheyt Van't Paradys Ende't Landt Canaan, Mitsgaders de Eerst Bewoonde Landen..." was originally published in Amsterdam in 1660 by Nicolas Visscher.
It's a decorative map of the region between the Mediterranean and the Persian Gulf, with Paradise shown to the east of Babylon.
Of interest are the two vignettes, one showing Adam and Eve being tempted by the serpent, and the other illustrating their expulsion from the Garden of Eden.
The map is completed by a compass rose, a cartouche showing the scale of miles and a depiction of Jonah and the whale.
We custom-print this facsimile map on waterproof canvas in our Lahaina studio using the finest archival inks, which are tested and guaranteed not to fade or shift under normal circumstances for over 100 years.
