This reproduction of the hand-colored engraving of "Turkey in Asia (Biblical Regions) The Holy Land And Its Borders, Including Ancient Phoenicia, The Hauran, and Adjacent Districts; Showing Jewish, Roman & Modern Divisions And Topography" was originally published in London and Edinburgh in 1875 by Archibald Fullarton for The Royal Illustrated Atlas Of Modern Geography .
The map states that it was drawn from "numerous recent and authentic sources" by engraver J. Hugh Johnson. It includes a great deal of information about the governmental structure, names of the regions and places, and historical notes such as the location of saints' tombs, convents, and Roman ruins.
One interesting feature is that the names of localities are given in as many as three names: modern, Hebrew and Roman.
We custom-print this facsimile map on waterproof canvas in our Lahaina studio using the finest archival inks, which are tested and guaranteed not to fade or shift under normal circumstances for over 100 years.
