"A Map of the World From the Latest Authorities "

Published by Thomas Kitchin, 1771

Printed by Lahaina Printsellers, Ltd., 2016

This is a superb reproduction of the detailed twin hemisphere map of the world by Thomas Kitchin, one of the most important British cartographers of the eighteenth century. Included are the tracks of Captain James Cook's three voyages.

The boundaries of both Australia and New Zealand are not yet completely defined, while the northwest coast of North America and the surrounding area is noted as "Parts Unknown." Greenland is shown connected to North America, and a a large amorphous peninsula is indicated in the area of the Aleutian Islands.

We custom-print this facsimile map on waterproof canvas in our Lahaina studio using the finest archival inks, which are tested and guaranteed not to fade or shift under normal circumstances for over 100 years. Modern printing techniques allow us to improve and enhance the historical subject matter, even as we're careful to preserve and maintain its historical and artistic integrity.
