Bamboo Banana by Jaquelynne Mauvais
Native to South Africa, the calla lily is neither a lily nor a calla. Rather, it belongs to the zantedeschia genus, and it's a hardy flower that grows easily in most humid climates.
The flower is symbolic of marriage and purity because of its standard white color, but it can also symbolize rebirth and resurrection; therefore, it is widely used in both weddings and funerals, as well as standard arrangements.
Calla lilies are popular with painters because of their appealing and elegant trumpet-shape, often thought to replicate the female form.
