"A New Chart of the Sandwich Islands

Published by Harrison & Co., 1784

Printed by Lahaina Printsellers, Ltd., 20

This superior reproduction of the original copperplate entitled "A New Chart of the Sandwich Islands; Including Owhyhee, where Capt. Cook was killed on Sunday the 14th of February 1779" was originally published in 1784 by Harrison & Co. of London.

This detailed chart shows the path of the Resolution and the Discovery when Captain Cook first discovered the Sandwich Islands in January of 1778, as well as the tracks of his second visit to the islands in February of 1779. It was then that Cook was killed by the natives at Karakakooa Bay (Kealakekua Bay) on the Island of Owhyee (Hawaii).

We custom-print this facsimile map on waterproof canvas in our Lahaina studio using the finest archival inks, which are tested and guaranteed not to fade or shift under normal circumstances for over 100 years. Modern printing techniques allow us to improve and enhance the historical subject matter, even as we're careful to preserve and maintain its historical and artistic integrity.
