This reproduction of the beautifully engraved "The South Part of Africa and the Island Madagascar, here the Portugueze (sic) have many settlements and all the trade" was originally published by Herman Moll in Asia Minor... in 1736.
In addition to his own works, Moll also engraved maps for others, including those for Jonathan Swift's Gulliver's Travels and Daniel Defoe's Robinson Crusoe.
Moll’s career spanned almost six decades, during which he published more than two dozen geographies and atlases, as well as myriad separate maps, charts and globes.
We custom-print this facsimile map on waterproof canvas in our Lahaina studio using the finest archival inks, which are tested and guaranteed not to fade or shift under normal circumstances for over 100 years. Modern printing techniques allow us to improve and enhance the historical subject matter, even as we're careful to preserve and maintain its historical and artistic integrity.
