"Novissima et Accuratissima Totius Americae Desciptio"

Published by Frederick de Wit, 1680

This brilliant reproduction of a hand-colored copperplate engraving is a map of North and South America. The rendering of the North Pacific regions, particularly California as an island and the absence of data on Alaska, all conspire to make this a wonderful piece to collect.

The cartouches in the left hand corners of the map are also magnificent and contribute to its value. One symbolizes the triumph of Christianity and the other portrays natives in their traditional dress.
