"A New and Accurate Map of North America"

Published by Thomas Bowen, 1790

Thomas Bowen, engraver of maps for George II of England and Louis XV of France, originally published this map circa 1790.

Borrowing from various existing charts, Bowen produced this rare copperplate engraving just twenty-two years after Captain James Cook commenced his first voyage of the world in 1768. In this superb reproduction, the Sandwich Islands are shown and there is a more accurate depiction of the coast of Northwest America.
