"California, also Utah, Nevada, Colorado, New Mexico and Arizona"
Published by Johnson and Ward, 1865-66
Printed by Lahaina Printsellers, Ltd., 2016
This reproduction of the rare seventh state map of "California, also Utah, Nevada, Colorado, New Mexico and Arizona" was originally published by Johnson and Ward of New York in 1865-66, as part of Johnson's New Illustrated Family Atlas, which was issued yearly from 1860 through 1874.
Published at the end of the Civil War, this map completed the charting of the rapid changes to the West which occurred during that turbulent era. Lands once populated by Native Americans were settled, and the borders of the states and territories had been clarified. Through those years, the last vestiges of the "wild west" became increasingly subdued.
We custom-print this facsimile map on waterproof canvas in our Lahaina studio using the finest archival inks, which are tested and guaranteed not to fade or shift under normal circumstances for over 100 years.
