"Carte de l'Empire du Japon"
Published by Bellin, 1752
Bellin's mapping of Japan is curious in that, despite being less advanced than other models, it was very influential, being copied by other mapmakers like Bowen.
Cortazzi remarks that Kyushu is slanted to the east, and Nagasaki and the nearby peninsula are almost parallel with southern Kyushu.
This is a very pretty reproduction map, and it is enhanced by wash color.
