"Les Isles Antilles"

This reproduction of the beautifully hand-colored "Les Isles Antilles" was originally published in Paris by Robert de Vaugondy in 1749 for his Atlas Portatif Universel. The map features the central Caribbean region slightly after the Golden Age of Piracy (1650-1730), when the various European colonial powers had reached a measure of control over Caribbean waters.
Only the best engravers and the finest laid papers were used to produce de Vaugondy's maps, which embodied the latest geographical information available to this great French cartographer at the time.
We custom-print this facsimile map on waterproof canvas in our Lahaina studio using the finest archival inks, which are tested and guaranteed not to fade or shift under normal circumstances for over 100 years. Modern printing techniques allow us to improve and enhance the historical subject matter, even as we're careful to preserve and maintain its historical and artistic integrity.
