This detailed reproduction of the chromolithograph "Mapa Historico Pintoresco Moderno de la Isle De Cuba" was originally published in 1853 by Bernardo May & Co. in Havana.
Of special note are the sixteen vignettes which surround the map, depicting scenes of the people and places throughout Cuba. Included are views of tobacco harvesting, cock-fighting, Havana Harbor and the after effects of an 1846 hurricane.
An inset table shows distances from principal cities and notes their longitude and latitude.
