"Hispaniola or Saint Domingo"

Published by Carey and Lea, 1822

Printed by Lahaina Printsellers, Ltd., 2016

This reproduction of the copperplate engraving, "Hispaniola or Saint Domingo", was originally published in Philadelphia in 1822 by H.C. Carey and I. Lea for their Complete Historical, Chronological and Geographical American Atlas.

The map was drawn by F. Lucas, Jr. and engraved by Young & Delleker.

On the left, the French "Hayti" (sic), is shown in pink, while the Spanish area is shown in yellow on the right.

We custom-print this facsimile map on waterproof canvas in our Lahaina studio using the finest archival inks, which are tested and guaranteed not to fade or shift under normal circumstances for over 100 years. Modern printing techniques allow us to improve and enhance the historical subject matter, even as we're careful to preserve and maintain its historical and artistic integrity.
