"A New Chart of the Seas Surrounding the Island of Cuba..."

Published by R. Baldwin, 1762

Printed by Lahaina Printsellers, Ltd., 2016

This reproduction of the engraved copperplate "A New Chart of the Seas Surrounding the Island of Cuba with the Soundings, Currents, Ships Courses & c. And a map of the Island itself, lately made by an Officer in the Navy" was originally published by R. Baldwin in 1762 for The London magazine.

As stated in the title, the map gave up-to-date information on soundings, currents, and ships' courses. Mr. Baldwin was an oficer in the British navy.

In the upper left, an inset map, "A Plan of the Harbour and Town of Havana", completes the presentation.

We custom-print this facsimile map on waterproof canvas in our Lahaina studio using the finest archival inks, which are tested and guaranteed not to fade or shift under normal circumstances for over 100 years. Modern printing techniques allow us to improve and enhance the historical subject matter, even as we're careful to preserve and maintain its historical and artistic integrity.
