"Italy"

Published by Kitchin, 1772

Thomas Kitchin was an engraver, publisher and hydrographer to King George III. This handsome reproduction of the hand colored copperplate engraving, with its ornate title cartouche, was originally produced by Kitchin in 1772.

Of particular interest is that France had purchased Corsica in 1768 and therefore, it was not under Italian rule when this map was published. Napoleon was born in Corsica in 1769.
