"A Draught Of Bonthain Bay"

Published by Strahan and Cadell, 1772

This remarkable reproduction of the original copperplate engraving was published from Captain James Cook's first voyage by Strahan & Caddel; of London, England in 1772.

Cook's initial voyage was so successful that he was promoted to the rank of Captain by his superiors at the Admiralty. Later, he would undertake two more world voyages before meeting an untimely death at Kealalekua Bay in the Hawaiian Islands in February 1779.
