"A New and Complete Chart of the World"

Published by Bankes, 1786

Printed by Lahaina Printsellers, Ltd., 2016

This superior reproduction of the original copperplate engraving included in Bankes's New System of Geography is a reduction of Captain Cook's General Chart and was published in 1786.

Originally hand-colored, this hard-to-find early facsimile world map shows the three Pacific voyages of Cook and is among the earliest to show the latest discoveries in Alaska and Hawaii. It also shows Phipps voyage to the Arctic in 1773.

We custom-print this facsimile map on waterproof canvas in our Lahaina studio using the finest archival inks, which are tested and guaranteed not to fade or shift under normal circumstances for over 100 years. Modern printing techniques allow us to improve and enhance the historical subject matter, even as we're careful to preserve and maintain its historical and artistic integrity.
