"Diversi Globi Terr-Aquei"

Published by Seutter, 1736

Printed by Lahaina Printsellers, Ltd., 2016

This superb reproduction of an original map entitled, "Diversi Globi Terr-Aquei..", was first published by Mattheus Seutter in 1736. This dramatic and highly informative world map was published in Atlas Novus, 1736 edition, by cartographer and publisher Mattheus Seutter of Vienna.

The dramatic double hemispheres showing the lands and oceans of the world are surrounded by 12 smaller globes of other views and scientific explanation. The five views of North America represent California as an island, and the Pacific is unexplored except for the tracks of Juan Gaetano, (who reportedly visited Hawaii and Tasman.)

The Seutter family was one of the most important and prolific German map publishers of the 18th century.

We custom-print this facsimile map on waterproof canvas in our Lahaina studio using the finest archival inks, which are tested and guaranteed not to fade or shift under normal circumstances for over 100 years. Modern printing techniques allow us to improve and enhance the historical subject matter, even as we're careful to preserve and maintain its historical and artistic integrity.
