"Nova Orbis Tabula, In Lucem Edita, A.F. De Wit"

Published by de Wit, 1670

Printed by Lahaina Printsellers, Ltd., 2016

Initially rendered from a hand-colored copperplate engraving, this beautiful reproduction from the original map was produced by Frederick de Wit, circa 1670.

An exceptionally high quality plate, this double hemisphere world map includes brilliant scenes in the corners of peoples from across the world. However, his depiction of the Pacific and the insets of the North and South poles is an indication just how much 18th century explorers would contribute to the world's geographical understanding.

We custom-print this facsimile map on waterproof canvas in our Lahaina studio using the finest archival inks, which are tested and guaranteed not to fade or shift under normal circumstances for over 100 years. Modern printing techniques allow us to improve and enhance the historical subject matter, even as we're careful to preserve and maintain its historical and artistic integrity.
