"Voyages de la Perouse"

Published by Fres, 1588

Printed by Lahaina Printsellers, Ltd., 2016

This beautiful reproduction of the finely detailed chart illustrates the voyages of Jean Francois De Galaup La Perouse from 1785 through 1788.

Engraved and printed by Erhard Fres, this early colored image was published for the Bulletin de la Societe de Geographie in the April 20,1888 issue.

The routes of the French frigates Astrolabe and Boussole are delineated, as well as an inset showing the island of St. Croix, complete with annotations regarding shipwreck debris on this historically informative map.

In 1788, the Astrolabe and the Boussole were shipwrecked in the New Hebrides Islands, and this map makes clear reference to this event.

We custom-print this facsimile map on waterproof canvas in our Lahaina studio using the finest archival inks, which are tested and guaranteed not to fade or shift under normal circumstances for over 100 years. Modern printing techniques allow us to improve and enhance the historical subject matter, even as we're careful to preserve and maintain its historical and artistic integrity.
