"Map of New England and New York"
Published by Speed, 1650
This outstanding copperplate engraving entitled "Map of New England and New York" was originally published by John Speed in 1650.
Of particular interest in this finely wrought reproduction are the charted routes of the St. Laurens (St. Lawrence River) to the north, and the Hudson River (including Delaware and Chesapeake Bay) to the south. Also noteworthy are the depictions of deer, bear, and various fowl, in addition to the lakes, rivers, towns and islands as they existed at the time.
