Bunting Eastern Hemisphere 1581
This superior reproduction of the beautifully hand colored original antique woodcut “Cloverleaf Map of the World” was published Heinrich Bünting in 1581. This historic mappa mundi, drawn by the German Protestant pastor, theologian, and cartographer Heinrich Bünting, uses a medieval style of the world represented symbolically rather than by mathematical projection. Jerusalem is in the centre of the map surrounded by the three continents of Asia, Europe and Africa, comprising three leaves of a clover shape.
