Blessing of Light by Todd Kawasaki
Todd Kawasaki is a Maui born, award winning landscape photographer living on the island of Maui, Hawaii. Like many who grew up on Maui, Todd spends much of his time around the ocean enjoying the year round tropical weather. At an early age, he developed a love for nature and a deep appreciation of Hawaii’s natural beauty. His photographic journey documents this love.
Todd’s work as a landscape photographer has taken him across the Islands; from capturing the sunset in Princeville, Kauai to photographing the lava flow on the island of Hawaii. Since getting his hands on his first digital camera, Todd has immersed himself into the art of landscape photography. Over the years he has developed a photographic style and process he can call his own. Todd’s goal as a photographer is to capture the magnificence of Hawaii as he sees it, and to share that with as many as possible.
Since starting his photography business in 2013, Todd has won numerous awards for his work. He continues to live and photograph on Maui, and travels frequently to the neighboring islands to pursue his goals. Photographic art by Todd Kawasaki is carefully selected and produced to the highest standard.
Todd Kawasaki is widely recognized as one of Hawaii’s most distinguished landscape photographers. He has won numerous international awards for his photography. Among them, “Hale Honu” (House of turtles), depicting turtles at rest in their cave with the setting sun in the background, won him his most prestigious award. He finished in 2nd place in the IPA (International Photographers
Association) from a field of over 3000 entries from 103 countries. His prizewinning composition skills as well as his patient commitment to capture that “optimum moment” have combined to create a wonderful array of fabulous photographs of Maui. They are sure to enhance any home or office anywhere in the world!
What is a Mirrored Print & Gallery Wrap?
Canvas for Gallery Wrap
Take a good look at your print; it may look a bit unusual near the edges. We print an extra 2½ inches of reflected “mirrored” borders, to ensure that when it is stretched, the finished product does not lose any of the actual art! This also allows you to choose stretcher bar frames in a variety of thickness up to 2″ deep with your framer.
If you have purchased a non-mirrored canvas to gallery wrap, you may lose important parts of the art, such as signatures. Typically we suggest framing artwork smaller than 16″x20″ rather than stretching it as a gallery wrap.
Custom Wood Frames
If you prefer the contemporary look in your home, we have a variety of wood frames to choose from. Walnut, Cherry, Black and White frames are custom made in house to order, with a 1.5″ – 1.75″ width on each side, it compliments the artwork for any artist, photographer or map.
Hand-made Rattan Frames
Though the design has changed over the years, we commission these Rattan frames through a small family owned company in The Philippines. Your frame is the result of trial and error of the last 20 years! Rattan is a vine-like Palm that requires forest cover in order to thrive. Rattan grows throughout the jungle for over a quarter of a mile. Its trunk can span a diameter of over two inches down to the thickness of a human hair. The harvester’s collection process is performed by hand by a simple machete. Ultimately, the rattan vine cannot survive without the forest. Rattan quickly regenerates. As a result, this method of harvesting protects the destruction of the forest.
